My grandpa was deployed to the Korean War just before proposing to my grandma. He sent her a box, and asked her not to open it until he returned. She saved it for 2 years until he did, never knowing if he would return, to open it and see the ring. They’ve been married 55 years. Their love GMH.

Today I met an elderly woman at a hospital I volunteer at. When I had to take her to another room, her husband helped me seat her in a wheelchair even though he was so weak that he also needed one. As I pushed him down the hall behind his wife, he asked if I could move his wheelchair next to hers so that they could hold hands. His love for her GMH

A few months ago, my family and I went to have dim sum when we sat by an old couple. The elderly man was sitting across his wheelchair -bound wife feeding her. He silently fed and talked to his wife, ignoring all the people and teary-eyed waitress staring. This man showing me what “In sickness and in health” really means GMH.

Last week while I was gone, my boyfriend came to my house and cleaned my room. He folded three loads of laundry and made it spotless. Today, I put on a pair of jeans and later felt something in my pocket, I reached my hand in and pulled out a note saying “I love you”. The ways he shows his love GMH.

Today, my older brother and I were teasing our mom about her age. When we jokingly told her it was hard for us to watch our parents get old, she responded by saying “yeah, well, it’s hard for me to watch my kids grow up and not have anyone who wants to marry them”. FML

I invited my crush to my house and was rejected. I called my best friend and told him what happened. Twenty minutes later, he called back and said “go outside”. It was midnight and raining. I looked outside to see him soaking wet, shivering, and holding flowers. We are still together. His LGMH.

I had my students write a paper about who they admired most. They had to read their papers out loud. One girl chose to write about her friend that had recently committed suicide. She started crying in the middle of reading her paper. Two boys, one of whom was very shy, ran to the front of the class and hugged her… in front of everybody. Boys like these GMH

Today, I took one of the children I work with to have to McDonalds. The child is 7 years old, autistic, has fetal alcohol syndrome and lives in a shelter with his grandmother. Aware he was hungry, I asked him why he hadn’t eaten his food and he smiled and answered “I want to take it home to share it with my grandma.” GMH
